Climate change throughout the world

The effects of climate change can be seen throughout the world. Natural catastrophes are increasing, not only in the southern hemisphere, but also in the industrial nations of the northern hemisphere.

News reports on extensive forest fires, karst development due to sinking ground water levels, violent storms and flooding have become a matter of course.

The year 2005 was sadly a „record year“ for tropical hurricanes. The consequences of climate change however hit the poorer levels of society in the developing world the hardest. Less rain for the farmers and violent storms had an immediate effect on their supplies of food and drinking water.

But the industrial nations of the north are the main parties responsible for climate change. With their expansive, energy-intensive way of production and way of life they contribute considerably to the progressive warming of the earth.
